1. Introduction
Welcome to WiFi Speed Test ("Application", "App", "we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is processed when you use our mobile application to test internet speed, WiFi performance, ping, latency, jitter and packet loss.
The app keeps your speed test history on your device and does not sell that history. The free version includes Google AdMob advertising, subject to the privacy choices and consent requirements described below.
2. Information we process
2.1 Network and speed test data
When you run a speed test, the Application processes technical measurements required to perform the diagnostic:
- Download Speed (Mbps) — the rate at which your device receives data from a test endpoint;
- Upload Speed (Mbps) — the rate at which your device sends test data to an upload endpoint;
- Ping / Latency (ms) — estimated response time to diagnostic endpoints;
- Loaded Latency — latency samples collected during download and upload phases to show connection behaviour under load;
- Jitter (ms) — variation between latency samples;
- Ping Loss (ICMP, %) — unanswered probes in a 20-probe sample to 1.1.1.1, separate from the HTTP speed-test server. No replies, incomplete sampling or unsupported ICMP is shown as unavailable, not confirmed 100% loss;
- Test Server Information — selected endpoint name, location, country and domain;
- Timestamp — date and time when the test was executed.
2.2 Device and app information
The Application may process limited technical information necessary for app functionality and compatibility, such as:
- Android OS version and device compatibility information;
- Application version and local settings;
- Selected test duration, selected server and feature access status;
- Local purchase access state, such as Supporter or Premium status.
2.3 Purchase and subscription information
The Application offers optional purchases, including Supporter one-time, Monthly Supporter subscription, and Premium Lifetime. Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing and managed through RevenueCat.
We do not collect or store your credit card number, bank details, billing address or payment credentials. Payment information is handled by Google Play. RevenueCat may provide the app with purchase status information such as:
- Whether a Supporter one-time purchase is active;
- Whether a Monthly Supporter subscription is active;
- Whether Premium Lifetime access is active;
- An anonymous RevenueCat app user identifier and transaction status metadata.
2.4 Advertising and consent information
When advertising is enabled, Google Mobile Ads may process:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- Advertising, app-set or other device/account identifiers where available;
- App/ad interactions, such as launches, impressions and taps;
- SDK/app diagnostics for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention.
Google UMP manages privacy choices and consent records. Ad requests start only when its consent status permits them; a configured form is displayed where required. Ad personalisation depends on your choices and applicable rules. Review available choices through Settings → Advertising privacy choices. Refusing personalisation does not necessarily remove permitted non-personalised or limited ads.
See Google Mobile Ads data disclosures and Google advertising privacy information.
3. How we use information
We use the information processed by the Application for the following purposes:
- To perform internet speed tests, WiFi diagnostics and latency measurements;
- To display test results, charts and saved local history;
- To calculate download speed, upload speed, ping, jitter, packet loss and loaded latency;
- To save your selected settings locally, such as server choice and test duration;
- To verify Supporter, subscription and Premium access through RevenueCat and Google Play Billing;
- To enable optional features such as CSV export, extended history, supporter badge and supporter app icons;
- To maintain app functionality, prevent purchase fraud and comply with legal obligations;
- To deliver and measure permitted advertisements, manage privacy choices and prevent invalid advertising traffic.
4. Legal bases for processing (EU / EEA / UK users)
For users in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under GDPR and UK GDPR:
- Contract Performance — to provide speed tests, display results, manage purchases and unlock paid features;
- Legitimate Interests — to maintain app reliability, prevent fraud, secure purchase access and improve functionality;
- Legal Obligation — to comply with applicable consumer, tax, accounting or platform requirements related to purchases;
- Consent — where required for advertising-related device access, identifiers or personalisation. Withdrawing consent applies to future processing and does not undo earlier lawful processing.
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) handles advertising consent where required. The message and available choices depend on region and the configured AdMob privacy messages. General use of the app is not, by itself, consent to personalised advertising.
5. Third-party services
The Application uses the following third-party services for core functionality:
- Google Play Billing — used to process one-time purchases and subscriptions securely through Google Play. Google Play Terms | Google Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat — used to manage purchase status, entitlements, subscriptions and Premium access. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Google AdMob and UMP — advertising and privacy-choice management when ads are enabled. Google Privacy Policy
- Diagnostic Endpoint Providers — Cloudflare and public LibreSpeed endpoints operated by Clouvider, Turris, GARR and CESNET, plus manually selectable legacy Tele2, Bouygues and Online.net endpoints. Auto checks availability and may switch servers after a failure or rate limit. ICMP loss uses 1.1.1.1. Providers receive connection metadata such as IP address and traffic volume; their availability and logs are outside our control.
6. Local storage, history and export
Speed test history is stored locally on your device. Free users can store a limited number of test results, while Premium users can store an extended history and export results to CSV.
- You can clear history from inside the app;
- Uninstalling the app removes local app data from your device;
- CSV export is initiated by you and shared only through apps or locations you choose.
7. Purchases, supporter features and subscriptions
The Application offers optional paid features:
- Supporter One-Time — removes all ads while the one-time purchase entitlement remains valid and unlocks a Supporter badge;
- Monthly Supporter — removes all ads, unlocks a Supporter badge and enables custom supporter app icons while the subscription is active;
- Premium Lifetime — unlocks advanced metrics, latency charts, ICMP loss insights, extended history, CSV export, a badge and eligible app icons. It does not remove ads.
When a valid ad-removal entitlement is known at startup, the app does not initialise the Mobile Ads SDK. Buying an eligible Supporter product stops new ad requests and removes ad placements after entitlement confirmation. Expiry, refund or revocation may restore ads after purchase-status synchronisation. Earlier data held by providers is not automatically deleted. The advertising privacy entry is hidden while ads are removed.
Subscriptions are managed through Google Play. You can cancel a subscription through your Google Play account subscription settings. Cancellation stops future renewals but does not automatically refund past payments unless Google Play policies allow it.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under privacy laws such as GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA or other applicable regulations.
- Access — you may request information about data processed by us;
- Correction — you may request correction of inaccurate information where applicable;
- Deletion — you can delete local test history in the app or by uninstalling the app;
- Portability — Premium users can export speed test history to CSV;
- Objection — you may object to certain processing where applicable;
- Complaint — you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority;
- Advertising choices — use the available in-app consent controls or Android advertising-ID controls, and contact the relevant provider for data it holds.
Because most speed test history is stored locally on your device and not on our servers, we may not be able to access or delete data stored only on your device. You can delete that data directly from the app.
9. California and US state privacy rights
We do not sell your personal information for monetary payment. Advertising-related disclosures to Google may constitute sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising under applicable state laws. Available regional privacy choices can be reviewed in the advertising consent form or Settings; contact us for help exercising applicable rights.
California residents and residents of other US states with privacy laws may contact us to exercise applicable rights, such as access, deletion or correction, where those rights apply.
10. Children's privacy
The Application is a general-audience utility app and is not directed to children under 13 years of age, or under the age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Application, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect app functionality and purchase status information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. Local test history remains on your device and is subject to your device security settings.
12. Data retention
Local speed test history remains on your device until you clear it, until app storage is deleted, or until the Application is uninstalled. Purchase status may be retained by Google Play and RevenueCat according to their own legal and operational requirements. Google retains advertising and consent-related information according to its policies and your privacy settings; removing ads does not automatically erase earlier provider records.
13. International data processing
Third-party services such as Google Play, RevenueCat and Google AdMob may process information in countries outside your country of residence. Their processing is governed by their own privacy policies and applicable data transfer safeguards.
14. Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect app updates, legal requirements or changes to services we use. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
